A Joyful Labor Day Afternoon
On Labor Day, I had the joy of photographing Mark and Lauren with their three kiddos at the Conewago Recreation Trail. With everyone off school and work, it was the perfect chance for them to slow down and simply enjoy time together. The session was filled with laughter, energy, and so much love from start to finish.
Where We Started Things
We began on a small bridge overlooking the creek. It was a quiet spot that gave us beautiful family portraits right away and allowed everyone to start feeling comfortable in front of the camera. The late-summer greenery framed them perfectly, and the kids’ playful personalities started shining through immediately. From there, we moved down and into the creek.
Some Creekside Fun
To make things extra fun, I brought along a little wooden chair and placed it right in the water. Truth be told, I bought it for $4 at a local thrift store and absolutely love it for sessions! The kids loved sitting on it while splashing and laughing together. Those candid, joy-filled moments captured who they are at this stage of life, and it was such a playful touch to the session.
Perfect Light in the Wildflower Field
As the sun dipped lower, we moved into the wildflower field. This was hands down my favorite part of the evening. The soft backlighting peeked through the trees and created portraits that felt warm and timeless. We took group photos here as well as individuals of each child; the field truly brought out the magic in the session with all the gorgeous foreground details. One thing about me is I will never let good foreground details go to waste during a session!
A Moment for Just the Parents
Toward the end, I photographed just Mark and Lauren together. These portraits were so sweet and showcased their connection in the midst of raising three busy little ones. I always love giving parents a few moments like this during family sessions— it’s such a beautiful reminder of where their story began.
Wrapping Up a Beautiful Session
This family session was the perfect way to spend an evening— no rush, no stress, just being together outdoors and soaking up the last bits of summer. From the shaded creek to the glowing wildflower field, every backdrop at the Conewago Recreation Trail gave us something special.
